Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud insists the squad are fully behind boss Arsene Wenger and want him to stay on at the club- beyond his deal that ends in the summer.
The 30 year-old came on as a substitute during Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat at West Brom on Saturday, a result that’s seen them lose four of the last five Premier League matches.
Wenger revealed in the following post-match press-conference that a decision on his future has been made and will be announced ‘very soon’.
Arsenal’s failure to address the Baggies strengths at the weekend played a pivotal role in their downfall and sparked vocal criticism from pockets of the away section towards the manager. The nature of the setback has since led pundits to suggest the players are no longer playing for him.
Though, Olivier Giroud told French sports station Infosport+: “We want to see Arsene Wenger continue, to continue the adventure, because we support him,” as Sky Sports report.
Arsene Wenger has come under intense scrutiny after seeing his side fall 19 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, nine behind rivals Spurs and six points off the top four places.
As a 13th season without winning the league title looms, supporters are split as to whether a fresh approach is needed in the dugout. The Gunners have been linked with a host of managers to take over the Frenchman at the Emirates.
