Arsenal Ladies manager, Laura Harvey, believes her side are ‘football fighters’. The female gunners are set to host their first ever Women’s Super League match at the Emirates on Thursday night, where they will face Chelsea.
Support for the team has been plentiful, as fans have printed flyers and posted them around the stadium, along Holloway road and in the underground tube stations to encourage more people to come along. Members of Arsenal.com have also been notified about the match via blog posts and emails. The high level of support has excited the team, and ‘psyched’ them up for the coming game.
Sky Sports news reporter, John Davies, explained, “In May 2010, Harvey’s side sewed up their final Premier League trophy against a Leeds side. These ladies have a great opportunity to show case their skills on Thursday.”
Although they will be playing their first Women’s Super League match at the Emirates Stadium, The manager says, “supporters attending the game will see her side maintain the Club’s proud playing values on a perfect pitch.”
